De Montel Terme Milan is not only a place full of beauty and memories, it is the realisation of a complex project, winner of the international competition Reinventing Cities, which saw the group Spa & SPA Italy in the role of manager and Azimut SGR as financial partner.
Respect, redevelop, regenerate
Respect, redevelop, regenerate: in a broadened perspective, De Montel is also the reinvention of city space. It is one more piece of green, experience and regeneration offered to Milan, the Milanese and guests from all over the world.
Centimetre by centimetre, the entire intervention on the Scuderie was carried out by a team of restorers using high technology and natural materials, in cooperation with the Soprintendenza Archeologica delle Arti e Paesaggio.
Truth in every detail
The result was the philological restoration of the whole: the gables, the cusps, the entablatures, the columns, the spandrels, even recovering a special impasto binder in Grenoble.
Among the most exciting discoveries of this adventure was the original colour palette of greys and pale yellows, or even the recurring wave motif both sculpted and painted. A wave, with all that it can symbolise in De Montel's story.
A return to life and the city
De Montel Terme Milano is a place that comes alive again inside the city. It regenerates people who seek rest, recharging or a neutral space for more authentic sociality in the thermal park.
That is why, with regard to space, time, and way of life, the verb 'reinvent' often resonates here.
