Terme De Montel and NABA: Milan Art Week with “Balneum”
Terme De Montel and NABA together with the 'Balneum' project during Milan Art Week
There is one week each year when Milan becomes a single, vast work of art. The city transforms, inviting us to see with fresh eyes what we already know. It is the Milano Art Weekthis year from 13 to 19 april.
Within this context, Terme De Montel and NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (New Academy of Fine Arts) brings to life Balneuma collaborative art project that brings contemporary art into a space naturally devoted to care, regeneration and suspended time.
Not an exhibition. Not an event. An immersion.
The Balneum project
Balneum carries centuries of history, rooted in thermal baths as spaces where body and mind come into balance together.
The project stems from a shared desire to make art accessible in unexpected ways, placing it where it is least expected to be encountered, yet where it finds its most authentic meaning.
Eight artworks created by students of the Department of Visual Arts by NABA will be integrated into the indoor and outdoor spaces of Terme De Montel creating unexpected aesthetic encounters. The artworks will be exhibited on site until 31 December 2026
The “Immersioni” appointments
The project unfolds over time through moments (which NABA calls “Immersioni”), stages of a journey where the collection is built, one gesture at a time.
First immersion, 13 aprile 2026: a group of students will create a live artwork, in direct dialogue with the space and its guests. A shared creative act that opens the collaboration and will remain as the first permanent trace of Balneum.
Second immersion, may 2026: a small collection will be presented through a dedicated event, introducing new languages into the thermal wellness experience.
(Coming soon: further details on the presentation event.)
During the Milano Art Week and in the following periods, Terme De Montel become a place where art is not observed from a distance: it is encountered, felt and experienced.
